Regular price $1,895.00Bee Hive is the product of a collaboration with Duluth-based Lake Superior Honey Co. Our take on the classic residential bee hive adds an element of modern design to your backyard, while also functioning as a practical apiary. We designed the hive with intuitive ventilation, a lockable flat roof to save on costs, tall legs for better ergonomics for the beekeeper, and a sturdier box for the internal wood frames, while maintaining enough “bee space” throughout. The Loll Hive works with off the shelf 9⅛” wood frames. It has an internal separator that you can move as the colony grows. Propolis sticks to the plastic but the solid, non-porous dense plastic allows for easy cleaning. A channeled roof clips on with lockable pins and the overhang makes it weather resistant. An easily adjustable door allows the keeper to increase the size of the entrance. Three sliding ventilation bars are visually adjustable.
We reached the final product, Bee Hive, by considering the needs of the bees and the beekeepers to accommodate them through performance, usability and style.

Loll products are made with 100% recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) primarily from milk jugs. Loll products are made with high quality, no maintenance, performance, and longevity materials. The resin used includes a superior UV additive designed for plastics that improves exterior durability, greatly reducing characteristic surface degradation caused by sunlight and other UV light sources. Pigments / Color concentrates are also added that are formulated with the best weathering pigments available in the market in a particular color-space.

"Some say we are all immigrants but many indigenous people have lived in one location for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years. In this series, I am addressing the more recent acts of relocation.
The place of one's birth greatly influences who they are but through moving, new foods, cultures, languages, and landscapes await to reshape their very being. Acceptance and rejection play a part in this.
I was born in the Midwest, moved as a young adult to California, then back to the Midwest to help aging parents. After their passing, I headed west again, this time alighting in New Mexico. Even though I didn't really encounter a great deal of differences in people there were subtle language differences, definitely food differences, and some culture shifts that required adjustment on my part.
The most profound change for me was the landscape.
Here I am blending photos from my years in the Midwest (mainly rural Missouri and Illinois) with current photos I’ve taken while living in New Mexico.
I feel that one's landscape, whether rural, suburban or urban, can utterly reshape them and how through relocation they grow and flourish. They become, in essence, a blending of all former homelands with the present", Ellen Jantzen.

"I took photos with my digital camera of various types of insects, then I uploaded them into my computer. The insects were isolated from their original backgrounds and then I manipulated the isolated insect images in various ways using Photoshop.
Combinations of insects were overlaid into many different kinds of abstract configurations, cut into pieces, and collaged in unexpected ways forming never before seen composites. In most cases, the original colors of the insects were also changed", Michael Jantzen.

"I took photos with my digital camera of various types of insects, then I uploaded them into my computer. The insects were isolated from their original backgrounds and then I manipulated the isolated insect images in various ways using Photoshop.
